Usually the non-veg dishes have a heavy dose of oil as ingredient. But for people who are conscious about their fat intake, especially the gym lovers and body builders, opt for a low oil food. They too need to woo their crave for a tasty non-veg dish – so we are going to prepare a gravy that has 0% oil and at the same time flavourful and tastier. Lets prepare it in a simple and easy way.

Ingredients

  1.     Chicken – 500 grams
  2.     Chilli powder – 1/2 tbsp
  3.     Garam masala powder – 1/4 tbsp
  4.     Turmeric powder – 1/4 tbsp
  5.     Cumin powder – 1/2 tbsp
  6.     Ginger – 100 grams
  7.     Garlic – 100 grams
  8.     Green chilli – 5
  9.     Onion – 200 g
  10.     Salt – 1/2 tbsp
  11.     Tomato – 150g
  12.     Curd – 100ml

Things to be done before we start cooking

  1.   Wash and clean the 500 grams of chicken – then dry off the water.
  2.   Onion – 200 grams (2 medium sized onion), peel the skin and cut into thin slices.
  3.   Green chilli – 5 (small sized) – wash and keep it ready.
  4.   Take 100 grams of peeled ginger and 100 grams of garlic, grind them together in our mixy jar to obtain a paste – called the “Ginger-garlic” paste.
  5.   Tomato – 150 grams (2 medium sized) – cut into small pieces.

Steps to Prepare

1 Take a 3-litre capacity pan. Place it on the burner and turn on the flame to HIGH MODE.

 2 Put in –

  • Chicken – 500 grams
  • Onions – 200 grams (cut into thin slices)
  • Green Chillies – 5 (no need to cut if its small, if its big then cut into two and add)
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt – 1/2 tablespoon

Stir and mix well for 20 seconds.

3 Now –

  • Turn the flame to LOW MODE.
  • Close the pan with a lid.
  • Let the contents get cooked in LOW flame for the next 15 minutes.

4 After 15 minutes of cooking, remove the lid and stir a little.

At this time, we can see that the chicken pieces would have got cooked 75%.

(we can find water in the pan – we never added water – but the water found in pan is the water that oozes out from chicken pieces and ginger garlic paste)

5 Now let’s add –

  • Tomato – 150 g (cut into small)
  • Garam Masala powder – 1/4 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tbsp
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Curd – 100 ml (or 3 tablespoons)

NoteIf we want to skip adding curd, we can skip it (because curd has a little of fat).

Stir well to mix all the contents. The water that oozes out from tomatoes is enough to cook the chicken pieces for the next 15 minutes.

6 Let the flame be in LOW MODE. Close the pan with a vessel. Let the contents get cooked in low flame for the next 15 minutes.

7 After 15 min, remove the lid. Stir gently. Garnish with coriander leaves. Our oil less dish is ready to be served.
